Creative Soul Finds Inspiration in Finnish Forest and “Paints” with Mushrooms

Saara Alhopuro, a former diving instructor from Finland, found it easy to get lost in the woods of Finland. The tranquil winter scenery calmed her and she often found herself spending hours among the trees, plants, and mushrooms there.

When you see the creative work that happens while she’s in the forest, you’ll understand why she spends hours and hours there freezing. Saara creates unique artwork with mushrooms she finds in the woods, and the end result may trick you into thinking that’s something you can easily do.

“I often spend five or six hours looking for mushrooms for just one creation. If I realize one day later that I would like to rearrange something in my creation, it’s already too late. The gills of the mushrooms have withered and lost those vibrant colors. Mister and Madame Snails have munched holes into the caps, and trees have covered my creations with falling leaves,” Saara shared her struggles.

But it’s all so worth it! Check out her work below.
