Intimacy, Frailty and Emotion in Josh Kern’s Photos

Josh Kern is a photography student based in Dortmund, Germany. Despite being very young, he knows perfectly what he does and what he is talking about, because he has a gift: that of being able to communicate his emotions through images, with intimate shots and warm tones.

There is no need for many words as his photographs are already very intense, but above all “true” because they talk about what is happening around his world and the people who are part of it.

His photo book, realized as if it were a real diary, contains texts and memories of moments of everyday life that are imprinted in the memory. Josh knows how to capture frailty by showing it naturally, without being cloying and managing to do so in a society that classifies emotion as a sign of weakness: this makes his work even more powerful. He believes people have the right to do anything they want with his words and photos, but the only thing that remains under his control is to remain true to himself.

See some of the moments of intimacy he has captured in lomography photos below.
