Romanian Photographer Travels The World in Search Of Abandoned Places

Cristian Lipovan is a photographer from Romania who specializes in abandoned places. The 36-year-old artist’s photography journey began almost a decade ago, and since then he explored old and abandoned places in Italy, Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Lipovan was also brave enough to visit Pripyat, the Ukrainian ghost town which was evacuated after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986.

In his latest project he photographed the Csavosi mausoleum church in his homeland which was built back in the 19th century, in 1860.

“The Csavosi mausoleum church is a unique location that takes your breath away”, Lipovan wrote on Bored Panda. “The mausoleum’s advanced degradation shows you that it did not have a very bright past. Today, the church – mausoleum is in a state of advanced degradation, but at 12 o’clock and at funerals, the bells still toll with nostalgia, in memory of their golden days.”
