]]> Even in early September, there is still time for making sand castles. New York-based artist Calvin Seibert can spend hours on a beach to make incredible examples of sand architecture. He says he never starts with a specific idea, just with a vague desire to do something unique each time. And with his interest in geometry, the notion of time is really important and must be considered in its ephemeral achievements, as he’s always adding something extra and if time allows, he’d not stop at all.

Seibert’s sand castles are inspired by “brutalism” — the architectural style deriving from the modernism movement, which enjoyed great popularity between the 1950s and 1970s before gradually declining, although various architects are still inspired by the principles of this style. From the beaches of Mexico to the east coast of the United States, here is a selection of the most beautiful sculptures by Calvin Seibert.
