Comparing past and present is part of human nature. We do it in all sorts of ways, contemplating how certain things from the past would fit in the modern world or how the present creations would look like if they were part of the past. Luckily, our curiosity often gets satisfied thanks to talented artists like Ilya Stallone.

Stallone enjoys mixing the past with the present in the most unusual ways in his works. This can be seen best in his recent series of illustrations that reimagine popular logos of modern companies in Medieval style. The list includes the clothing brand Lacoste, the dating app Tinder, and the computer operating system Window.

Stallone did a great “rebranding” job, keeping the key features of each logo but adapting it to the Middle Ages aesthetics. So, for example, the logo of the Firefox browser still has a fox on fire, but the idea behind it is taken more literally.

“I’ve been designing, illustrating, and especially logo-making for a long time, and I realized that I can combine the work that I love and the atmosphere of the Middle Ages,” he shared in a recent interview with My Modern Met magazine.

You can check out more of Stallone’s reworked logos below.

If you love nostalgia and enjoy the aesthetic appeal of the ’50s and ’60s, then you will surely enjoy the works of Santiago Colombo. In his recent series of illustrations, this Argentinian lettering artist and graphic designer decided to give a vintage makeover to logos of famous companies.

Through his artworks, Colombo imagines how would companies like Netflix, Starbucks, and Samsung market themselves if they were created midway through the 20th century. Using retro fonts and colors alongside hand-drawn lettering, he manages to accurately emulate the feel of the era and deliver great looking pieces.
