Social media can be a pretty negative place, but you can escape the doom-scrolling hell by following people committed to making a positive change. Eve Anderson is one of them, and she’s using her adorable food illustrations to evoke a sense of nostalgia, coziness, and warmth.

Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Anderson has come a long way since she started sharing her work with the world in 2023. Her Instagram page attracted 70,000 followers, and she made over a thousand sales on her Etsy page, in addition to running her official website and online store.

Anderson describes herself as an illustrator and surface designer inspired by all things retro, vintage, and pink. Fun details, textures, sparkles, and colors are an essential part of her illustration, and she’s using her talent to evoke a sense of nostalgia and take us back to the good old days when every problem could be solved with a cup of hot chocolate and a piece of warm pie.

We’ve seen Anderson explore many different subjects through her work, but she definitely has a soft spot for food. From cinnamon rolls and pumpkin pies to festive cocktails and delicious pastries, we can count on her to put an adorable twist on our favorite comfort foods and make us fall in love with them all over again.

The two main ingredients in Camille Shu’s paintings and illustrations are flowers and fruit. Mainly inspired by “plants and the things they do/make,” she admits to being in complete awe of the things that grow around us. “Fruit, flowers, trees, all of it,” she elaborated. “Something simple like opening a blood orange from the store is a religious experience for me and makes me want to immediately get painting.”

Based in Portland, her work includes commercial and editorial illustrations, as well as mural paintings. But in addition to being a sought after creative, she has also worked as a florist, as well as working part-time on a farm. So being inspired by nature is quite natural for her.

“I find inspiration from things around me, things that are in season or whose presence is fleeting,” she says. “It could be the melon I had for lunch in August or the sweet peas that are in season in June and growing in my yard.”

Using mainly Gouache, she hopes to bring more color into people’s lives through her art, as well as help people appreciate the world around us. Her work is mostly realistic, but she doesn’t shy from abstract shapes as well, describing her overall aesthetic as “colorful and funky.”
