]]>Her grandson Jan Gorkunov started Instagram “Girl from 1938,” last year and just days after he created the account, over 3000 people followed her. In an interview with Sobaka.ru, Gorkunov talks about her grandma’s artistic journey: Aleshicheva has no creative past but she was taught how to embroider at the age of five by her grandmother. Through the years she didn’t do any embroidery, only five years ago when she lost her country house to fire, she found a way to express her feelings through making unique embroideries.
After the fire, Aleshicheva was diagnosed with dementia and started to forget things. Embroidery helped her fight this mental illness. She felt happy, relaxed and calm every time she creates embroideries, proving that art therapy really works.
