Helen Hodson, a self-taught ceramist from the U.K., learned how to do this art form by herself. She first fell in love with it when she was exploring evening classes a few years ago and the passion hasn’t faded yet.

“I like nothing more than creating peculiar versions of my favorite animals,” we read on Hodson’s website. “The majority of my week is spent at my day job working for a local wildlife conservation charity which I love. I do ceramics two days a week and any other spare time I can find!”

More animal pots will be coming in the new year! . I’ve had a lot of messages about them & I can promise that the next shop update will be nothing but pots & vases. . Also, I’m afraid I don’t take pre-orders but will make lots of different animals as well as the favourites, like foxy & hen.

Decorated & ready for dunking. . I love the soft muted look of underglaze on bisque ware. It’s a shame I can’t keep that look – the high firing that’s about to happen will change everything to bright & shiny

Wow, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by all your kind words on yesterday’s post. I was about to reply to everyone but when I saw there were 90 comments I thought I’d say a massive group thank you instead. I’ve read each & every one & appreciate all your support. . Social media gets a lot of stick but in this instance it’s been a great comfort to me. . In return I promise to make lots more smiley creatures when I’m up & running again

This is my favourite bunch of guinea pigs yet (and I’ve made quite a few!) . They must have been in a different/hotter part of the kiln this time as they have more of a ‘baked’ finish. They even appear to have rosy cheeks . I’ll know after tomorrow if there are any left & available for my Etsy shop. . I hope you’re all enjoying a relaxing Sunday.
