You will encounter obstacles; you will struggle, succeed, and struggle some more. The story of your practice weaves all this together, absorbing what is within you and making it productive. Because when you truly believe your story of practicing, it has the power to turn routine into a route, to resolve your discordant voices, and to transform the harshest, most intense disappointment into the very reason you continue.” – It was an absolutely rewarding read in its totality.

666 The Worlds Within Books – The ancient Greeks and Romans believed that an artist had a spirit that helped their work. That is why this wonderful entry from the philosopher Mary Wollstonecraft is so appropriate for #whpimagination – In her 1794 letter, she wrote that the imagination is the true fire, stolen from heaven, to animate this cold creature of clay, producing all those fine sympathies that lead to rapture, rendering men social by expanding their hearts, instead of leaving them leisure to calculate how many comforts society affords. – It’s such a beautiful allegory, right?

664 Simple Things – The wonderful Parker Palmer states that, loving the world means paying attention to its simple gifts, and receiving them with simple gratitude in every moment of our waking lives. – Where simple gifts is to feel at home in our own skin. To feel at home on the face of the earth. – “You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean-blue air, are heading home again. I’m actually reading at 10 o'clock in the morning. I think it’s just your upbringing – something about like you got to go to work, and you’ve got to – and move on. And still even – this is how I make my living. I still feel guilty. 10 o'clock, I mean – and it’s – but I’ve sunken into the pleasure of it – to think, my God, I’ve got my life in a way where I can read a book in the middle of the day.” – Paul Thomas Anderson

Le Guin asserted in her beautiful essay in “The Way In The Mind”. – “Plunging into the ocean of words, roaming in the broad fields of the mind, climbing the mountains of the imagination. Just like the kid in the Carnegie or the student in Widener, that was my freedom, that was my joy. And it still is.” ——————— So, I’ve been reading a lot these few days and my mind is extremely happy.
