]]>Tired of waiting for officials in Lyon, a city in east-central France, to do something about the deteriorating street infrastructure, Ememem took matters into his own hands. He started repairing the cracks on the pavements and buildings with colorful mosaics.
Ememem started this intriguing project in 2016 after noticing the wear and tear on the public surface outside his workshop. After patching some cracks there, he proceeded to do the same on several other locations and quickly became known as a “pavement surgeon.”
“My work is the story of the city, where cobblestones have been displaced; a truck from the vegetable market tore off a piece of asphalt,” the artist explained in a chat with Guardian.
The artist refers to his repair technique as “flacking,” which is a wordplay on the French word “flaque,” which translates to “puddle.” He adopts a free-flowing approach to the interventions, allowing the shape and size of the fracture to inspire him. This dictates the material and color he uses, as well as the resulting patterns.
While most of Ememem’s works are located in Lyon, he has also created in various other cities across Europe, including Aberdeen, Madrid, and Paris. In case you don’t have an opportunity to check them out in person, here are more of them below.

]]>The talented artist creates art that offers value to the eyes while driving concept by distinctive methods. He hopes to create artwork that blurs the line between painting, photography and sculpting. The whole process helps him to tell stories using the cast pixels and the sculptures. It triggers some questions when the viewer stares at them from different angles.
Champeny shares his amazing art on social media as well as his website. You can see more of his work on his page. Below are some of his beautiful mosaic artworks. Do you think he did a good Job?

]]>Since then, the artist has not been idle… and has not really been more confined to frozen desserts. As evidenced by his Instagram account, he has expanded the boundaries of his art to other dishes and food products of everyday life: fruits and vegetables, instant ramen sachets, meat pieces, sandwiches, and many others… He also expanded his ‘pothole project’ to other cities, beyond Chicago: Los Angeles, Detroit, Nashville, San Antonio or Philadelphia.
Thanks to his traffic cones and his orange construction suit, similar to the employees of the city of Chicago in charge of road reconstruction, Bachor has never been arrested by the police. In 2014, however, the city council of Chicago tried to clear things up through a statement for the Chicago Tribune. Although the city administration appreciated the spirit of the initiative, the council asked the artist to leave this work to the professionals. This warning doesn’t seem to slow him down though.

]]>We already told you the story how Wegman adopted his first Weimaraner in the 70s, a German dog with a gray coat and clear blue eyes called Man Ray; the dog became a source of inspiration for the artist who created a true cult to him in his art. From painting to photography to video, Man Ray has inspired Wegman’s best-known works, including his famous dog portraits.
Now, Wegman collaborated with the MTA Arts & Design which aims to promote art in the New York subway. The Stationary Figures project presents a series of mosaics inspired by his famous dog portraits. Whether wearing a flannel shirt or a shiny raincoat, each dog is inspired by the looks and attitudes of New Yorkers. For the realization of the project, Wegman relied on Mayer’sche Hofkunstanstalt — Mayer of Munich, a historic glass and mosaic workshop.
These 11 paintings now adorn the walls of 23rd Street subway station and embellish the daily journey of millions of New York citizens.
