]]> Most of the time, being a spy in the movies looks like a job that comes along with a lot of adventures and life threatening situations, but sometimes it‘s also represented with a touch of glamour. Although you probably can’t be a spy in real life, you can most certainly get an up-close glimpse of some of the equipment they have used thanks to The International Spy Museum. The museum, which opened in 2002, recently reopened in a new location at L’Enfant Plaza in Washington, DC. And just like the spies from the stories it hosts, the looks of the new facility are bold and deceiving.

The steel-and-glass building was designed by Rogers Stirk Harbot & Partners and it’s twice the size of the previous one. Richard Rogers, senior partner of the firm who has also designed the inside of Centre Pompidou in Paris, has given the building its unique aesthetic by making all the interior elements visible from the outside.

The museum has the world’s largest collection of spy artifacts that give a deeper look inside a secret agent’s life and many of them are now being presented to the public for the first time.

Take a closer look in the SPIES and SPYMASTERS gallery, you’ll hear the real stories of spies past and present. • Like the tale of Stalin’s Romeo Spy. Actor @costaronin of the @theamericansfx takes on the role of Dmitiri Bystrolyotov, one of the KGB’s most daring operatives, who assumed dozens of identities and used his charm and good looks to spy for the Soviets. Eventually spending nearly 20 years in Gulag camps. • Visitors can explore six stories including Sir Francis Walsingham and Queen Elizabeth, James Lafayette, Mata Hari, Morten Storm, Mosab Yousef and Gonen ben Itzhak. #newspymuseum . . . . . #spymuseum #spies #spy #museum #museumweek #dc #internationalspymuseum
