Alyson Gurney Sculpts Pet Doppelgängers Using Wool

Alyson Gurney is a 23-year-old artist from Washington, DC, who can make an uncanny felt sculpture of your beloved pet. She uses 100% wool to create adorable tiny sculptures of dogs, cats, bunnies, and hedgehogs, all of which you can see on her Instagram page called littlefeltedfriends.

Gurney says she’s always been interested in creating art and she previously worked in graphic design and printmaking. However, once she discovered the art of creating needle-felted creatures she instantly fell in love with it, and knew she had to give this a try.

“I started by creating my favorite subject: my dog. It grew from making my friends’ pets to selling them all over the world,” the artist told Bored Panda.

What started out as a hobby turned into a great business idea and the artist says she never expected the demand for her felted animals would be so high.

“I currently have a 3-month-long waiting list that continues to grow! I release a set number of slots every month and they sell out within 3 minutes. After all, our pets are our most cherished friends, and it’s such an honor to craft each one.”
