Artist Created Intricately Layered 3D Sculptures

Meet Patrick Cabral, a freelance art-director based in Manila, Philippines. He loves making layered 3D sculptures come to life.

His work is really unique and has caught the attention on people across the web. He can create any type of animal into unbelievable 3D sculptures.

Recently, he finished creating three sculptures for Starbucks Philippines. The actual sculpture is made of MDF and each animal represents the region where Starbucks get their beans.

His goal is to provide people with a new interesting way to experience his work when they are not able to see it in person.

He is also trying to see how far a 3D printed creation can go. Check them out below.

Last of the 3 artworks I made for @starbucksph . This is 110cmx150cm Kenyan Elephant. Each animals represent the region where @starbucks grow their beans. This collaboration is a dream come true for me. A decade ago I decided to be a fulltime freelancer. I just transferred to a new condo and for the first time I didn't have to share a space with multiple families. What I didn't anticipate that it would take me a long time to get an internet connection. I would upload files on some internet cafe but if I had to do video calls with my clients abroad, I would often do it at Starbucks 6750. They also had the fastest internet there so it's the best place to download large files. I remember they used to promote emerging artist's work in their walls. I remember hoping that some day I get to post some of my works there… fast forward to 10 years, Starbucks Asia Pacific actually commissioned me to make an artwork for them. I guess that's really how it goes. Sometimes some dreams takes 10 years to fulfill. I am glad that @starbucks gave me this opportunity. It's really hard to find clients for the work that I do. Most art collectors prefer oil painting than something that hasn't proven to sell for million of dollars yet. To a lot of people it's just an investment, which makes it really amazing that the team at Starbucks, specially my project manager @_jsychan are really supportive of my vision, to let me make something that is truly mine and not something that is approved by a committee. I hope I get to work on more projects like this and may this project lead me to more soul-mates who would support me (morally and mostly financially :)) to realize my vision. Here's to fulfilling more dreams! See this IRL at SM North Towers Starbucks Reserve. p.s. Thanks @anjolapreski for this awesome 📸 . These are waay better than the ones I took 🙂

It’s almost weekend in my side of the world, but before I get some rest, here’s another paper cut for my @wwfphilippines and @aoklife collab. Here’s a fun fact I didn’t know about gorillas. Around the nose, there are a few wrinkles unique to each gorilla, a fact used by scientists to quickly identify them in the wild. All species (and sub-species) of gorilla are listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List.[12] Threats to gorilla survival include habitat destruction and poaching for the bushmeat trade. In 2004, a population of several hundred gorillas in the Odzala National Park, Republic of Congo was essentially wiped out by the Ebola virus.[67] A 2006 study published in Science concluded more than 5,000 gorillas may have died in recent outbreaks of the Ebola virus in central Africa. The researchers indicated in conjunction with commercial hunting of these apes, the virus creates "a recipe for rapid ecological extinction".[68] Conservation efforts include the Great Apes Survival Project, a partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme and the UNESCO, and also an international treaty, the Agreement on the Conservation of Gorillas and Their Habitats, concluded under UNEP-administered Convention on Migratory Species. The Gorilla Agreement is the first legally binding instrument exclusively targeting gorilla conservation; it came into effect on 1 June 2008.
