Artist Reveals How the Turkish Art of Marbling is Done

Turkish artist, Firdevs Çalkanoḡlu, specializes in marbling, which is a traditional Turkish art known as Ebru.

The videos below show how this unique Turkish art is carried out by dissolving tragacanth in water to give it a level of viscosity. Then, a container is filled with this liquid to a height of about 6 centimeters. Powdery dyes of different colors, mixed with little water are added into the bile. This bile having previously been boiled does not allow the dyes to mix.

We can see how the artist was applying each of the dyes from their jars. Each dye added; spread one to another and form beautiful designs.
