Artist Uses Palette Knife to Create Mystical Portraits

While creating his newest series of paintings, Iranian artist Salman Khoshroo didn’t use a paintbrush, instead, he drew portraits with a palette knife and sizable layers of paint. White on White showcases emotive portraits with the same title, where you can’t define the subject’s facial features.

“Instead, the aim is to capture a human spark with minimal intervention. These faces are the result of simply taking a chunk of paint and molding it,” the artist told Ignant and added that he wanted to create portraits of “people that make you feel something; people you didn’t even know you were looking for.”

Besides this monochromatic series, the artist also creates colorful paintings. The talented Khoshroo has been sharing his work on his social media accounts, mostly on Instagram where he has attracted more than 45 thousand followers, and on his personal website where you can purchase available prints.
