]]>Runa Kato, the mastermind behind Runa Pocket, specializes in “touchable” 3D latte art and she’s been doing this since 2018. She’s on a quest to overturn the way people look at latte art, and she describes herself as “a latte artist who creates a lot of happiness with a cup of latte” on her official website.
Runa is definitely succeeding in her mission to change the way people look at latte art since she’s one of the most successful latte artists in her home country of Japan. She appeared on several TV shows, collaborated with high-profile clients, and attracted over 90,000 followers to her Instagram page since embarking on this journey.
Runa’s latte creations usually take shape of beloved animated characters, that move in a cup when touched. Pokémon is her biggest source of inspiration, with her latte art taking shape of Pikachu, Snorlax, and Squirtle, but she’s no stranger to making lattes inspired by other movies, such as Minions and Disney classics.

]]>While visiting Bali, Brown found herself inspired by the local tattoo artists and illustrators. They were all working digitally, which turned out to be the triggering point for her to become a digital artist.
“I never thought I was that patient when it came to creating art, so I loved any medium that allowed me to bring my vision to life quickly. This is why digital art has changed my life! I love using the Procreate App. It has really allowed me to experiment and bring my ideas to life without wasting any medium,” she said in an interview for Ballpit. She also added that before discovering the digital world, she would work with watercolors and posca pens.
Although she is still working on her color palettes, one thing is for sure: fashion illustration will always be her number one influence.
“I love drawing people and characters that represent a certain mood that is usually bold and sassy. I would say my alter ego shines through most of the characters I draw,” she explained. “My overall style consists of a quirky concoction of current trends mixed with playful color palettes resulting in bold stylized characters.”

]]>As part of The Litter Bugs project, Oliver uses found objects and materials to craft all sorts of colorful insects. This includes repurposing metal brooches into beetles, crafting flies out of baits and playing cards, and making bugs out of cricket balls.
“The Litter Bugs are a postmodern exploration and re-working of Victorian insect collections and taxonomy,” Oliver shares on his website.
According to the artist, the primary goal of his found-material bugs is to encourage viewers to give each insect a “closer inspection” and discover all of the things that were used to make them. Sometimes it’s obvious but other times, you really need to look hard.
“I use collage and assemblagé of found and crafted objects to create an artistic illusion, one I hope will seduce the viewer into closer inspection of each bug,” he explains.
Oliver’s The Litter Bugs have been exhibited in various international art galleries and featured in museum exhibitions. The artist also regularly shares his newest works on social media. Continue scrolling to check out more of them below.

]]>Crick is a founder of the company New Baginnings, which sells handbags made out of discarded sofas, couches, old jeans, and every other material that would usually end in the garbage. Her creations are stylish, affordable, sustainable, and eco-friendly.
According to Crick, she came up with this unique idea when she was about to throw away her old curtains. Thinking it would be a waste to discard perfectly good material, she tried to make luggage and later a small bag out of it. While her initial experiment didn’t go according to plan, it inspired her to keep trying.
Soon enough, Crick perfected her skills and started getting creative with sourcing her material. She discovered that old leather sofas are her favorite, as she can make several quality bags out of one piece of furniture. On top of that, the stuffing that she doesn’t need can be donated for other purposes, like creating dog beds.
“The sofa bags are flying off the shelves,” Crick shared in a recent interview. “I see people with my bags I get such a sense of pride.”
