If you’re looking for a way to explore the vibrant wonders of the world without leaving the comfort of your home, Millie Putland’s illustrations will get you there. Her lively drawings capture the spirit of some of the world’s most magical cities, and they’ll make you dream of new places.

Putland is a talented illustrator from Hampshire whose rise to prominence started during the pandemic. She was looking for a way to get her mind off of everything that was happening around her and found a great escape in her art that took her all around the world, even during the lockdowns.

She started working on her signature bold and bright illustrations, which she describes as “wanderlust travel art”, inspired by her past travels. She was on a quest to create art that makes people dream of new places while also reminding them of the precious memories with loved ones or moments in time they want to remember forever.

Putland’s illustrations are inspired by beautiful places from all around the world, and they take the shape of everything from jigsaw puzzles and notebooks to postcards and bookmarks. In addition to capturing the magic of her favorite cities around the world, she also kicked off the “American City” collection, themed around the most vibrant metropolises in the United States.

The Academy Awards finally returned to Los Angeles on Sunday night, and those tuning in for the ceremony weren’t disappointed. Hollywood’s biggest night brought many memorable moments our way, and we’re bringing you a few that were the talk of the town.

Opening Monologue

Everyone was thrilled when Conan O’Brien was announced as the next Oscar host, and his hilarious opening monologue lived up to the hype.

Timothée Chalamet’s Suit

The red carpet at the Oscars has given us some pretty memorable outfits – starting with Timothée Chalamet’s yellow Givenchy suit, which immediately drew comparisons to the block of butter.

Adam Sandler’s Cameo

Speaking of memorable outfits at the Oscars, Adam Sandler made a cameo in one of his classic casual outfits instead of following the dress code.

Anora’s Sweep

Anora swept the Oscars with five wins, and reactions were pretty mixed. Some celebrated its victory by sharing the most hilarious clips from the film, but its best original screenplay win has been heavily criticized.

“James Bond” Tribute

A musical tribute to James Bond left many Oscar viewers pretty confused. Some were impressed by the performance, especially Raye’s singing abilities and Margaret Qually’s dance number, while others found it unnecessary.

In Memoriam

The “In Memoriam” segment stirred a lot of commotion for omitting Shannen Doherty, Tony Todd, and Michelle Trachtenberg, and failing to properly honor David Lynch.

If you’re a huge cat lover in the mood to discover some amazing new artists, Tsoooki’s Instagram page is just the thing you’re looking for. Her paw-dorable illustrations put cats front and center, showing them having the time of their lives in all sorts of cozy scenarios.

Tsoooki is a talented illustrator based in Paris, but the name of her brand is actually inspired by her Hungarian roots. “Tsoooki” comes from “cukor”, the Hungarian word for sugar, and it’s a love letter to her grandmother, who used to greet all of her grandchildren with this adorable nickname.

Tsoooki is sharing her illustrations with over 50,000 people on Instagram, and she hopes they’ll transport everyone who sees them into a cozy and magical world.

“Painted by hand in my home in Paris, each of my products attempts to tell a story or to describe a magical scenery. Inspired by nature, animals, nostalgia and fantasy, I try to infuse my illustrations with meaning and to allow the viewer to wander (and wonder!)” she writes on her official website.

Tsoooki finds inspiration at every turn, but her cat Soja is definitely her biggest muse. Most of her illustrations are inspired by her feline companion, and they show cats doing what they do best – relaxing to the max!

Noah Verrier has been dubbed the “Manet of fast food”, and a single glance at his paintings will tell you how he earned this nickname. The oil painting technique he relies on has been around for centuries, but his subjects are completely modern since he specializes in painting our favorite comfort foods.

Verrier is an artist from Tallahassee, Florida, who used to work as an art professor before his paintings blew up on social media. He explored everything from still life to portraits and landscapes in his work, drawing inspiration from the realists of the late 19th century, before finding his go-to subject in our favorite comfort foods.

The majority of Verrier’s paintings these days put a classic twist on junk food, but that’s not stopping them from looking like fine art.

“There’s a loving care you can give to these objects. There’s the idea that the subject doesn’t matter, but maybe through this wet-on-wet, alla prima technique, and through gesture, you can inject some kind of emotion. You’re putting yourself into that piece, even if it’s cheesy, and that’s why it works,” he told Artnet.

Verrier’s art attracted many high-profile buyers after he found viral success, and he went on to collaborate with numerous famous fast-food brands, such as Burger King, Dunkin, Popeyes, and Little Caesars.

Many people turn to music when looking for a way to get inspired, and Inés Pérez found all the inspiration she was looking for in her favorite songs. This talented artist from Spain made quite a splash on social media with her amazing comics that perfectly capture the lyrics of amazing songs we all know and love.

Inés Pérez is based in Madrid, Spain, and she goes by @ine8s on Instagram, where she’s followed by over 60,000 people. She’s been sharing her digital illustrations with the world for a few years, and her style significantly evolved over that time, but one thing about it stayed the same – her obsession with popular culture.

Pérez’s illustrations are mostly inspired by her favorite movies and TV shows, and she uses them to pay homage to the fictional characters that shaped her as a person. Music is also an important source of inspiration for this young artist, and her comics are the best example of her genius at work.

Pérez is no stranger to drawing standalone illustrations of her favorite artists, but the real magic starts when she decides to turn their songs into comics. Most of them are inspired by Taylor Swift’s hits, including “No Body, No Crime”, “Betty”, and “You’re On Your Own, Kid”, but she made an even bigger splash with a recent fantasy-themed comic inspired by Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!”

If you still haven’t heard of the term “shadow art” buckle up because it’s the wildest thing you’ll see all day. The Japanese artist Kuronushi is putting this art form on the map, and his viral videos show him using the power of shadows to craft amazing pop culture dioramas inspired by his favorite movies.

Kuronushi became interested in shadow art by a happy accident after noticing a shadow of his baby daughter projected on a wall on a sunny day. He was so fascinated by this image that he decided to start exploring tiny wonders that hide in the shadows by creating elaborate cardboard dioramas that have to be pushed at the right angle to project amazing art.

Popular culture is Kuronushi’s main source of inspiration, and many of his dioramas pay homage to the fictional characters we all know and love, such as Harry Potter and Iron Man. Kuronushi also enjoys celebrating his favorite soccer players, and we’ve seen him craft shadow art inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Neymar.

Kuronushi has been sharing his art with the world for less than a year, but it didn’t take long for his TikTok page to blow up. He’s followed by two million people on this social media platform, where one of his videos attracted over 350 million views.

Dopamine décor is all about welcoming the air of joy into your home through vibrant colors and quirky decorations. We’ve seen many content creators find viral fame on Instagram after embracing this craze, and Kaarin Staalsen is doing it better than anyone else.

Staalsen has been a fan of bright and colorful things for as long as she can remember, and becoming an interior decorator with a preference for bold and bright colors is basically a part of her DNA.

“My mom is also an interior designer and she was always painting the walls of the house I grew up in different colors. She let us paint canvases with her that hung in our house, so I got a lot of my creative colorful side from her,” she wrote in one of her Instagram stories.

Her love for art spilled into her apartment as soon as she moved into her own place, and she started painting the walls in the most vibrant colors. Staalsen also has a soft spot for quirky and eclectic decorations and furniture, and she enjoys sharing her unique finds with 2.5 million followers on TikTok and 680,000 more on Instagram.

In addition to finding success with her home décor videos, Kaarin also made a splash as a crochet artist. She even sells crochet patterns on her official website, helping other aspiring crochet artists to follow in her footsteps.

The beauty of the ocean knows no bounds, and Nicola Fewings can’t get enough of it. She’s the mastermind behind Lily & Sea, the coastal artwork brand inspired by her fascination with the sandy shores of Cornwall and the countless tiny treasures she found beneath its waves.

Fewings’ love for the sea can be traced back to her youth, and she discovered beachcombing while spending summers on the northeast coast of England with her family. Her love for nature eventually turned into an academic pursuit, and she got her degree in marine biology at Plymouth University.

This was just the start of her epic adventure, and she spent a year teaching volunteers about the marine world in Mexico, before heading to the Maldives, where she worked as a diving tour operator for eight years. She eventually moved to Cornwall with her husband, where her love for the ocean blossomed into something unique.

Fewings collected an impressive collection of seashells during her honeymoon to southwest England and decided to set them into a frame. She still loves collecting shells, sea glass, pebbles, and other tiny treasures from the Cornwall beaches and arranging them into breathtaking works of art. Her friends and family were so impressed by her tiny works of art that she kept making more, and her brand Lily & Sea eventually became a full-time job.

Insects are the biggest and most diverse group of organisms in the world. We sometimes forget that they even exist since they are so little, but for Japanese artist Noriyuki Saitoh, they are the main source of inspiration. He creates insect sculptures using bamboo and we just can’t look away from them!

What’s even more impressive is that they look very realistic, even matching the real-life size ones. Big or small, all kinds of insects are a part of his growing portfolio. The artist starts by creating the skeleton and adds the details with translucent craft paper. The result is incredible, looking like real wings that reflect light.

Saitoh doesn’t exactly try to get every detail perfect: “Since we are not making specimens or replicas, we prioritize the impression, characteristics, and sensation of appearance rather than rigorously measuring the dimensions and creating proportions accurately,” his website reads.

He enjoys leaving some room for imagination, so that the people seeing his art can fill the gaps themselves. He also believes that “it does not make much sense to create details that cannot be discerned by the human eye,” since his goal is for people to see his work in person.

Scroll down to see some insects from Saitoh’s impressive collection.

Mark Oliver is an accomplished artist who won various notable awards for his paintings and illustrations. But today, we would like to introduce you to his intriguing side-project titled “The Litter Bugs”.

As part of The Litter Bugs project, Oliver uses found objects and materials to craft all sorts of colorful insects. This includes repurposing metal brooches into beetles, crafting flies out of baits and playing cards, and making bugs out of cricket balls.

“The Litter Bugs are a postmodern exploration and re-working of Victorian insect collections and taxonomy,” Oliver shares on his website.

According to the artist, the primary goal of his found-material bugs is to encourage viewers to give each insect a “closer inspection” and discover all of the things that were used to make them. Sometimes it’s obvious but other times, you really need to look hard.

“I use collage and assemblagé of found and crafted objects to create an artistic illusion, one I hope will seduce the viewer into closer inspection of each bug,” he explains.

Oliver’s The Litter Bugs have been exhibited in various international art galleries and featured in museum exhibitions. The artist also regularly shares his newest works on social media. Continue scrolling to check out more of them below.
