Animator Andrea Love worked together with illustrator Phoebe Wahl to create this gorgeous short film titled Tulip. They call it a “fresh and woolly take” on the tale Thumbelina by Hans Christian Anderson. The film is still in production and it will be eight minutes long. It shows the main character Tulip, a child born from a flower, going to explore a big garden as she’s searching for her sense of belonging.
The artists working on this project have started a Kickstarter campaign in an attempt to collect funds for further development of the film.
“We wanted to create a contemporary adaptation of Thumbelina that allows Tulip to be a child, free from a love-story ending and able to find home in more places than one, while maintaining the original story’s themes of risk, adventure and magic,” they wrote on Kickstarter.
