Ciara Gan Designed, Painted and Sewed Her Graduation Dress

Young Ciara Gan from the Philippines recently graduated from high school and she took this opportunity to show her creativity and talent. Instead of buying an expensive gown, Ciara decided to make her own dress with a little help from her mom.

Ciara’s story went viral when she posted photos of her gorgeous emerald green dress on Twitter. Ciara and her mom used 13 yards of fabric, crinoline, boning, and Swarovski crystals to create her graduation dress.

“My inspiration came from my mom, who pushed me to make the dress,” Gan told in an interview with BuzzFeed News. “Because I love to try new things, I thought why not? It was my last big event for school and I had about a month of graduation practices, so I’d be able to focus more on making my gown without worrying about schoolwork.”

Ciara needed a whole month to finish the dress, including 5 whole days to hand paint the vibrant flowers. When she showed up at the event, all of her classmates were impressed with her gown and the work she’s put into making it.
