Diego Cusano Creates Art by Mixing Food and Satire

Italian artist Diego Cusano likes to give ‘ordinary’ objects a new meaning. Every day he posts a picture on social media that combines everyday objects in a non-traditional way. Cusano calls himself a “Fantasy researcher” and likes to explore the link between imagination and reality. The objects in his art change their ordinary ‘function’ through the drawing to a new, unexpected function. His style is quite aesthetically pleasing, and not only for users of social media. In just three years Cusano has collaborated with big names in fashion and luxury, such as Diesel, Adidas, Cartier, and Chanel.

The thing that is almost always present in Cusano’s drawings is… food. He loves to decontextualize fridge essentials through his imagination. The artist says the idea of combining food with the subjects came three years ago during the making of a video for one of his singles (Diego also plays the piano). The food is never wasted, says the artist. Everything used in creating the photos is eaten.

You can check out some of his “food collages” below.
