ChattyFeet’s Instagram bio reads: “Serious fun. That’s what #chattyfeet is all about. We create character socks with witty names to bring a little fun into your day.” Indeed, you have to be a truly uptight kind of person to not enjoy the serious fun the ChattyFeet offers.
Created by Gil and Humberto (who met while studying Communication Design at Central Saint Martins in London), every pair of socks is produced in Europe from combed cotton.
“It all began one night many years ago,” the two wrote on their website. “We were joking around and started to ponder a very important question: ‘What if our socks could talk?’ It was one of those light bulb moments, but once the spark had been ignited we simply couldn’t turn it off.”
Expanding on the birth of their tongue-in-cheek brand in an interview with Inky Goodness, Gil and Humberto explained that “the idea came at a really memorable friend’s gathering many years ago. We were entertained by the idea that socks could talk like puppets – but on feet rather than hands – and played around with this idea throughout the party. We thought it would be funny to make sock characters and the next time we met, we agreed to try to make this idea into a real thing. And the rest is history.”
“We like silly things that encourage people to play because life gets too serious at times,” they added.
