Talented paper artists Asya Kozina and Dmitriy Kozin live in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where they create these magnificent paper wigs. Their works incorporate historical elements from various periods and typically resemble extravagant wigs from the Baroque period.
“The versatile white paper is used not only as a tool, but also as a concept which helps to express the historical process in a symbolic fashion. The images of Mongolian, African, Scythian, Venetian, Baroque, Art nouveau cultures are easily recognizable while simultaneously metaphorical,” Kozina’s website reads.
Their work has been a part of museum collections and was featured in different history and art history events. The complexity of their works has changed over time and the public doesn’t perceive them as props anymore but as proper artworks. Check out the artists’ Instagram where they regularly post images of new works and have nearly 60k followers.
