A French street artist has found an innovative way of making a living. Pascal Boyart, also known as PBOY, has incorporated QR codes into his murals, allowing passersby to finance him by sending him Bitcoins. PBOY tried the experiment to include a QR code at a signing in November 2017, and surprisingly, it worked. To date, he has received approximately $ 1,000 (0.11 BTC), which helps him pay for the equipment and expenses needed to continue working on the street.

Boyart first began to study the cryptocurrency system in May 2017 in order to fully understand how Bitcoin works and found an ingenious way to take advantage of cryptocurrency for crowdfunding purposes. Thus, the artist seems to have discovered an effective way to free artists from the grip of galleries and traditional institutions so that their art is truly independent.

He says he prefers a direct financial relationship with the viewers of his art, instead of using crowdfunding platforms such as Ulule. The most interesting aspect according to him is the decentralization, the creation of a horizontal system that facilitates art and creative process.
