]]> Atelier CHAOS by Sandra de Groot represents diversity, crossover, art and design. Her recent collection of kNOTs combines elements of craft, sculpture, and architecture in wearable artworks. Each of the ropes that form the sculptures are made of natural, high quality cotton that allows the pieces to keep their texture, structure and shape. Each piece is knotted by hand.

“The sculptures evolve according to an inner logic that is all mine. Only when the sculpture attains a textile form of attraction and becomes self-contained, I literally let go the ropes,” according to the official website.

With huge quantities of knots and ropes involved in her artwork, de Groot wants to amplify awareness that raises questions about time, technique and intensity, which will create possible dialogue between object, viewer and maker.

How nice it is to walk through your own designed little world of kNOTs before the carousel stops… 😊 From above it looks like a miniature installation [but in real life the sculptures are about 2 meters or larger]. For one month he was ‘the storyteller’ of my exhibition titled ‘Dress for NOA’ Yesterday I took of his crown [headdress]… I packed him up and moved him to a storage. The end of the show. Back in my hometown for two full days now… leaving the island ibiza was no fun! 🙃I finished my kNOT sculpture for Roze and Pierre @losenamoradosibiza just in time, where I could hang it in the perfect place: right at the entrance of their beautiful boutique hotel! I’m just so gratefully happy and very satisfied to have been able to do this…staying here was so pleasurable. Thanks Roze for the compliments on my work and posing with my finished kNOT sculpture!
