Inspired by Jungian therapy and creative exercises, Rainaud launched the Maalavidaa project as a way of self-expression. Having graduated in June 2018 with a Master’s Degree in Graphic Design, she now works as an independent director.

“I started studying graphic design more than seven years ago and finally graduated this past June by working on my thesis where I tried to link books to psyche,” she shared in an interview with Murze. “In the meantime, I started to work as a digital artist more than two years ago, in 2016. Creating Malavida was a way for me to express myself through different media and daily creative work but in a more abstract level.”

According to the promising digital artist, her work is influenced by publishing design, hybrid books, new technologies, psychology, digital art, visual effects, and experiments. Her color experiment seems to have worked out for the best! Take a look for yourself.

“Jen Stark’s art is driven by her interest in conceptualizing visual systems to simulate plant growth, evolution, infinity, fractals, mimetic topographies, and sacred geometries,” it says on her personal website. “The resulting works often resemble organic, molecular, cloud-like structures, and are imbued with kinetic, undulating effects that serve to dislocate the viewer from staid reality into an immersive ecosphere of echoing patterns and the implausible designs found in nature.”

Her artwork is in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the West Collection, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale and MOCA Miami, among others.

Myerscough’s graphic designs transform public spaces, from trains to hospital wards, adding a colorful twist to the otherwise gray settings. With her mantra being “make happy those who are near and those who are far will come,” it’s easy to fall in love with her joyful creations.

“I don’t like calling what I do a style,” she told Creative Boom. “I have an approach to my work that I have developed over many years in response to doing things I have not enjoyed and want to get more fulfillment from what I do.”

“I have totally orchestrated the way I work. I want to make the final work where I can, this is not always possible. But I work on every aspect of the project. I will artwork every piece of pattern and text. With the large structures, I often collaborate with Luke Morgan on the structures, furniture, and interactions. I work with structural engineers, building contractors, scaffolders, tilers, clients or project managers, depending on the requirements for the project.”

“When I am painting a large-scale project I will call on a team of painters who I have shown my way of painting and they are paid and come and help me in the studio,” she added. “I am very particular and disciplined with the painting as it is often very complex, like a massive jigsaw.”
