]]> Fotini Tikkou is a Greece-born, Denmark-based artist who enjoys creating art around topics like diversity, self-love, acceptance, and motherhood. 

She combines watercolor with pencils for a soft, unique effect. “My favorite materials at the moment are definitely gouache, watercolors, and pencils. I tend to use them all together in my work. I love the imperfect textures and the happy little accidents that gouache and watercolors give you and I also love balancing that out with the precision of pencils,” Tikkou said in an interview for The Art Gallery.

Tikkou got her art degree in Athens, at the School of Fine Arts, in 2009. Since then, she’s been working hard on her freelance career and improving her illustration style, while also branching out to ceramics. Her cups, pots, and vases are just as adorable as her illustrations and unique in their own way.

I’ve opened up several times lately about how stressful and consuming these past few months have been and how miserable they made me feel.. I missed most holidays these year, almost every weekend was booked with work. I didn’t get a chance to enjoy the Easter holidays as several deadlines were keeping me tied down. But most importantly I have missed a lot of moments with my daughter. It was definetely one of the most hectic periods of my life but the lesson learned is that your mind and body have limits and once you cross them, things go really bad. These days most of my deadlines have come to an end and I am regaining much more free time and I already feel like a new woman. It’s easy to forget to take care of ourselves from time to time but it’s inportant to be able to shut down and reset. This weekend my only plan is to enjoy my family, the sunny days and to just breathe after such a long time.
