]]>“When I began working independently, I started with small suspended pieces,” she shared in an interview with the Etsy blog, recalling how her business was shaped, “but I wanted to take the idea of hassle-free installation even further and create something where people wouldn’t need to worry about nails or drilling holes in walls.”
Zaycman’s solution was to attach the stained-glass piece to a brass bar. These pieces included insects and plants all made of smooth glass. ]]>Carol Milne is a sculptor from Seattle who makes astonishing glass sculptures that resemble knitting works to the smallest details. Using a variation of the wax casting process, Milne is able to create numerous colorful glass threads that compose beautiful patterns.
Milne has experience in several different disciplines of art, but she has been exclusively dedicated to glass art since 2000. Through her work with glass, she often turned to experimentation and pushing the limits of her ingenuity, which led to this intriguing project.
“I see my knitted work as a metaphor for social structure,” the artist says on her website. “Individual strands are weak and brittle on their own, but deceptively strong when bound together. You can crack or break single threads without the whole structure falling apart. And even when the structure is broken, pieces remain bound together. The connections are what bring strength and integrity to the whole and what keep it intact.”

Having graduated in fashion design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, Mardahl has exhibited her work around the world and has received several grants from the Danish Arts Council.
Her website states that as a designer, she likes exploring “the contrast between organic shapes and hard materials… Her designs bring life to spaces, and are equally capable of standing alone or blending in.” We couldn’t agree more!
