]]> A box of cereals emptied into a 10-meter long truck, an arm of a bulldozer becoming an ice cream scoop; a boxing glove becoming a red tomato: Stephen McMennamy is an advertising graphic designer who has worked for years in US multinational companies, working on much more complex projects than what we’re discussing here.

Yet for his #ComboPhotos project, lightness, mixed with imagination, gives to the viewer light and funny images of everyday life. The choice of bright colors completes the path that the artist is pursuing, making all the works enjoyable and carefree.

All he needs to create these (and many more) surreal photomontages is a smartphone, an app called PicFrame and a fantasy to mix mediums and environments. There is no doubt that creativity has no limits, but lately he has switched from mobile devices and apps to a professional camera and Photoshop. Probably due to this now his collages look almost perfect.

So let’s lose ourselves in a world made of dogs with a head of cauliflower and brushes with bristles of spaghetti. Enjoy some of McMennamy’s collages below.

cauliflower + poodle. while working in San Francisco last week, I managed to capture this #combophoto on the fly. pretty spontaneous stuff and it went down a little something like this: spotted a herd of standard poodles (3=herd)… asked for a photo while my subject took a tennis balls break (she, and her walker, said yes, but I made a crucial mistake and forgot to get names)… quickly took to the pavement and made a beeline to the nearest market (@mollie_stones)… secured some quality cauliflower… dismantled cauliflower… shot a bunch of cauliflower test subjects… found a match… (take a breath) and here's where I netted out. I actually got sweaty making this one. hills, people. thanks San Francisco mystery poodle and sorry cauliflower. #🐩 almost forgot… shot on the #iPhone (#iPhone6)

]]> In the infinite universe of the internet, and in this case of Instagram, one can often find small but promising profiles of artists from all over the world. Marijana Andrevska (@marijana.na.na) is young graphic designer who lives and works in Skopje in Macedonia.

During the day, Marjiana works on projects for different brands and clients, but in her free time she enjoys creating nice and and daring associations between various objects, giving expression to her imagination which never seems to end. The key elements in her seem to be colors and free associations; if you think there’s nothing in common between a whale and an ice cream, a balloon and a strawberry, or between a can of fish and a pool, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by her mashups.

The  Turkish butcher and chef “Salt Bae” invites himself to the table of the Last Supper (1498), The Scream of Edvard Munch (1893) wanders in the Upside Down of Stranger Things, a painting of Caravaggio receives the visit of the dentist Deadpool while Vincent van Gogh, Johannes Vermeer, and Leonardo da Vinci revisit the famous even called “Distracted boyfriend”.

A real reinterpretation of classical masterpieces and a reappropriation of their symbolism and space.
