Talented people can be found all over the world, in every little corner, doing the things they are best at. Some of them are representing their gift online, while others prefer doing it on the streets. Just like the Saint Petersburg-based Nikolay Yarakthin.

Originally from Cheboksary, the Russian artist creates remarkable human portraits using just a pencil. His artistic journey began almost three decades ago, and the people’s reaction is the thing that he likes the most.

“It takes me about an hour to make a portrait,” the artist told Bored Panda. “Looking at the excitement of my clients seeing their portraits brings me a lot of joy and inspires me.”

Yarakthin began sharing his admirable work on social media and accepting commissions online, however, he says that he has met a much larger and diverse audience on the streets of Saint Petersburg than any gallery could ever host.

Have you seen artwork that so realistic you thought it was unreal? Can you imagine having your work being investigated by Trading Standards?  Well, this happened to professional artist John Fisher who was one day visited at his home by two inspectors who had questions about the authenticity of his detailed pencil drawings.

Fisher showed examples of his fantastic photorealistic drawings and proved they were real and he was the creator. Although the malicious report didn’t affect his business, he was upset that people would go that far to double check his work.

Fisher started his career some few years ago when his father persuaded him to quit his job as a chef and open his own business and become a full time artist. Although the starting was difficult, he now has more than 5k followers on his Instagram. His top notch detailed work is often mistaken for photographs because it is so realistic.
