These paper strips can be shaped, rolled, and even glued together in the process. Artists usually loop, curl, roll and twist the paper to create shapes that make up the designs.

The process starts with rolling a single strip of paper into a coil. The coil is then pinched into shapes which are glued together. Some advanced artists use this method to create 3D miniatures, flowers, abstract art, and portraits.

This talented artist, Yasser Safy Elrahman, uses quilling among other artistic methods. He has created portraits of people such as Gandhi, Emma Stone, Shawn Mendes and others.

She creates paper quilling art, she twists, folds, and stack layers of thick paper to create her sculptures. Paper quilling art is considered as a contemporary twist on a technique thatโ€™s been around since the Renaissance.

โ€œThe Turkish artist uses a wide range of hues to create chromatic elephants with a rainbow of shades, or work all of the brilliant blues of the ocean into a single sea turtle,โ€ according to Colossal. โ€œRuna left the corporate world to make quilled paper works full-time in 2015, and wrote her own book on the topic in 2017.โ€

Runa shares her work on her Instagram account where she has gathered a following of over 129 thousand people, and has an Etsy store where see sells all of her creations.
