]]>A professional illustrator and artistic director, he’s recognized for his vector style of illustration, with his creations being both minimal and graphic. A recurrent character in his work—a pensive looking figure—has come to be understood as a metaphor for the artist himself.
“Creativity has always been part of my life,” Masi told Sense of Creativity. “I willingly associate curiosity with creativity, maybe that’s where everything starts, with curiosity.” His advice to other aspiring creatives? Never give up, believe in what you do, meet people, and mainly: “produce, produce, produce.”
With a freelance career that has spun for over 15 years, his advice has to be worth something.

]]>“I’m very drawn to Surrealism in particular, both in art and in literature, and I think that has a strong influence in my work,” she admitted in an interview with Sense of Creativity. “Where it’s appropriate – e.g, illustrating more conceptual pieces – I always try to dig down into the unconscious aspect of the subject I’m illustrating and get a feeling for what is under the surface, the undercurrent of an article.”
This hidden layer of meaning is further enhanced by Finnie’s careful choice of color and composition. Her color palettes are often bright, relying on strong contrasts and an added twinkle or sheen. Her pieces tend to invite the viewer to further investigate, imagining the fantastical landscape from which these intriguing images might have come from.
“I think that, for me, being an illustrator is as much about creating content that’s useful or informative or connects with other people as it is about making something that’s meaningful to me,” reflected Finnie. “I always try to find a way to personally connect with a piece I’m working on, so that I can put some unique perspective into it, even if it’s not obvious to others in the final illustration.”

]]>Inspired by fashion, bright colors, exotic aesthetics, space, tacky things, the 80s and 90s, the artist reveals that his favorite medium is the vector.
“I like to make perfectly maintained lines and be able to change any element or color at any time,” he shared in an interview for Ballpit. “My usual process begins by finding some image, some object or some color palette that inspires me. From there I make sketches and start playing a lot with the colors until I get something that I really like. Sometimes throughout the process, I make several changes that were not planned.”
