The Enchanting Illustrations of Vladimir Stankovic

Illustrator Vladimir Stankovic admits he isn’t sure how to categorize his style of illustration. “I’m not really sure what the genre of my work is, but I guess I’d say it’s very fairytale-like with the touch of surrealism and a bit grotesque,” he once remarked in an interview with Astrum People.

His themes include fairy-like creatures as well as realistic animals, but mostly its a combination of both, making for a somewhat surreal effect. “A lot of nature’s elements as biology as a science has a big influence on my work as well,” he says. “In general, I like to experiment and combine different genres and themes and I like to be surprised by the results.”

His toolbox includes both traditional and digital tools. “With the use of traditional techniques I kind of get the results I want in the fastest and most fun way,” he says. These tools include watercolors, colored pencils, and markers, upon which he later adds the finishing touches using digital software like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

His art can be seen both online and offline, in group exhibitions. Scroll down for some highlights from his Instagram page.
