The World’s Smallest McDonald’s is Now Open – Take A Look

Bees are important part of our ecosystem but they are threatened and need more places to live. Christina Richter, who runs a number of McDonald’s chain in southern Sweden, decided to give these bees a place up on the restaurant roof. Each cup accommodates over 20,000 little creatures.

Today many McDonald’s restaurants in Sweden have beehives on their rooftops. The initiative started out locally but is now growing nationally. According to Nord DDB, more franchisees are joining the cause and have began replacing the grass around their restaurants with flowers and plants.

To honor the initiative, which is part of McDonald’s Sweden’s sustainability work, Nord DDB created the world’s smallest McDonald’s called McHive, and it’s a fully functioning beehive. Check out below.
