Paper Hats is a pet portrait series created by photographer J.B. Shepard. It features dogs wearing costumes that are made from post-consumer recycled materials such as beer boxes, paper plates, plastic cups, and old newspaper.
“The goal of Paper Hats is to show that all anyone or anything needs to shine is a second chance. Whether it’s a foster dog who was dealt a rough start or a newspaper circular printed only to be never read, that with a little love, patience, and creativity it could be something amazing,” the artist wrote on Bored Panda.
Shepard said that when they started the series, they were initially working with Bella’s Bully Buddies, a nonprofit organization specializing in finding homes for Staffordshire Terriers, American Pit Bull Terriers, Bull Terriers, American Bulldogs, and other blockheaded dogs. The proceeds from sales of all Paper Hats prints go to the organization.
