This Painter Rediscovers the Lost Paradise of Childhood Through Her Art

Montreal-based painter, Dominique Fortin, creates fairy-like creations that take their inspiration from childhood’s candor and imagination. Her works, full of whimsical illusory, create dream-like scenarios. The meeting point of fantasy and reality.

On her gallerist’s website, it’s stated that Fortin is inspired by the ideals of “optimistic perspectives and delightful aesthetics,” as well as the constant redefinition of life. “She is influenced by individuals that listen to their heart, those devoting themselves towards an ideal and that are true to themselves.”

Born in 1974 in Montreal, Fortin has a background in visual arts and jewelry. Her works are exhibited throughout the world, in solo and group exhibitions.

According to Fortin, her yoga practices are to thank for shifting her approach in life and therefore also in her art. Her artistic mission? To rediscover the “lost paradise” of childhood through her fanciful creations.
