Camille Seaman is an American photographer who travels the world in pursuit of thunderstorms and achieves spectacular shots that show us the immense power of nature. Her digital and cinematographic images are characterized by a combination of beauty, terror, and fragility inspired by nature.
She has followed tornado and storm hunters in the United States to make a series of shots on these phenomena which are both exciting and frightening. During her journeys she has met superstitious people who were not happy to see the storm hunters; some of them had lost their homes or loved ones during storms. Still, she insists what she does is not being a carrier of “catastrophic tourism”.
Her goal with the thunderstorm photos is talk about the duality of everything; she says there can be beauty in something terrible and vice versa, and there is no creation without destruction.
