Train Company Shows Cheaper Alternatives Rather Than Famous Destinations

There are lots of places that everyone would like to visit someday, but traveling can often be very expensive. Finding plane tickets, appropriate accommodation and ideal transport can be a really torturous experience, especially during summer.

Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) made a unique campaign with which they show you destinations near you similar to foreign landmarks – only these won’t cost you a fortune and are much more accessible. Their campaign is based on research that showed that 72% of Germans travel or would travel abroad for their vacation. The campaign called ‘No Need to Fly – Around the World in Germany’, was made in collaboration with Ogily Germany, an advertising company from Germany and Getty Images.

By using geo-tagging technology, Facebook data and Google search, German Rail found the most popular destination and managed to find an alternative that is closer and will cost much less than an airplane ticket. For example, traveling to see the Horseshoe Bend in Arizona would cost around €1 156, while visiting the alternative location Rhine Valley would cost only €19, which is way cheaper.

Check out the alternative locations they’ve found and tell us, would you visit a look-a-like to save money?
