Often times the internet is littered with hashtags that have no significant impact on the quality of life lived by humans, but #TrashTag is quite different. In last few days, #TrashTag has inspired and motivated lots of young people to create a picture of a dirty environment before they clean it and an after picture when they are done cleaning it, and the turnout has been shocking. Young people all over the world took up the challenge, bought boxes and garbage bags, and posted photos of themselves cleaning up their local parks, beaches, and wilderness areas.
The trend started March by a Facebook user, Byron Román, after he shared a photo of himself issuing a challenge to “bored teens” asking them to “Take a photo of an area that needs some cleaning or maintenance, then take a photo after you have done something about it, and post it.” And the rest is history, check them out below!
