Victoria Bee Makes Oversized Paper Props

Victoria Bee is a young Art Director and paper artist who, in our modest opinion, has the most interesting job in the world. She’s one of those people who create magic behind the camera, and Bee does it by making oversized paper props for films, photoshoots, and commercials.

This Belgium-born artist moved to Berlin in 2015 and after four years of working as a junior art director, Bee became an independent artist and opened her own creative studio.

When asked to comment on how she became interested in this job, Bee said she started making paper props by happenstance

“After making some 2D paper-cut illustrations for myself and some friends, a guy in Brussels asked me to build some paper bird-head masks for his art project,” the artist said in an interview with Sixtysix Magazine.

“It worked out really well, and I got a lot of positive feedback. I accepted a few other projects and started to build a portfolio—until the day I had enough work samples to apply for a position at a creative studio in London, which needed people to make props out of paper.”

Not many businesses need oversized props on a regular basis, so it was pretty difficult for Bee to build a clientele. Nevertheless, she managed to gain more visibility by working for two different agencies, both for French and German markets.
