Walking around can be a huge challenge for people that are visually impaired. Dealing with high obstacles, traffic and finding a map that will tell your exact position and where to go next can be really tricky sometimes.
WeWALK is an upgrade to the standard white cane that will make walking much more easier. WeWalk is simple for use – you just attach it to the regular white cane and it turns it into an innovative smart cane. The most important features that WeWALK has are the obstacle detector which detects obstacles above chest level of the user using an ultrasonic sensor which vibrates when the obstacle is near, whether it’s a branch from a tree or a traffic sign.
Another great feature is that it can be paired with phone by Bluetooth, so the user can manage applications on their phone via the touchpad on WeWalk, without actually holding the phone. This comes in handy for navigation among other things. The third most important feature is that WeWalk is integrated with Google Maps and Voice Assistant for easy navigation, and there are plans for it to be integrated with transport applications too!
