Korean artist Yi Chul Hee makes astounding, imaginative sculptures out out of stacked layers of pipes. Carefully shaped hollow tubes are the foundation of surprising shapes and structures. Each of his art pieces plays with light and shadow, enabling light to get inside and change its perspective. Intricately composed out to give illusion of solidity and depth, Hee’s art builds three-dimensional sculptures that seek the counterbalance between negative and positive space.
Despite of the fact that his art process is not cheap and requires lot of manual labor, Hee says he has found his calling in this specific art form and achieves great satisfaction of his sculptures due to them being both rhythmic and scientific.
