Caroline Walker Paints Working Women from London

London-based painter Caroline Walker finds beauty in everyday moments. A few years ago, she started painting women who work in service industries, silent heroes of modern times who are more important than you might think. Her paintings of women working in beauty salons, retail, and similar jobs show the serenity of the everyday moments we never think about.

Walker was very young when she fell in love with art. “I was mad about drawing and painting from a very early age, and would spend countless hours in my first studio (a large kitchen cupboard I commandeered) drawing endless pictures of women,” she told It’s Nice That. “So I would say it was hard wired from the start.”
