CityLiveSketch: Art Project Combines Drawing and Photography

Quoting Henri Cartier Bresson, “photography is an immediate action, drawing is a meditation,” and this seems to be the motto guiding the hand of Pietro Cataudella. Student of Geophysics in Pisa, Sicilian of origin, through his artistic project CityLiveSketch he manages to combine three of his passions: drawing, photography, and travel.

Pencils, Moleskine, camera and a smartphone are the tools through which Pietro expresses his creativity. It highlights emblematic places, unforgettable views and cult references by simply using a combination of photographs and drawings made on a travel diary. Born in summer 2014 in Marzamemi, a small seaside village in the south-east of Sicily, the project continues to seduce more and more travel addicts and followers of the genre in Italy, but also around the world.

In 2016, the project evolved with the creation of a new category of fantasy drawings in which the sketch interacts or merges with photography.

You can check some of his most interesting drawings, both real and imaginary, below.
