The Mauritshuis museum in the Netherlands joined forces  with the Dutch design agency Capitola VR and created an application which allows you to step in into one of Rembrandt’s most famous paintings, “The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp.” The reason for this collaboration is celebrating Rembrandt van Rijn’s 350th birthday and what other way to celebrate this genius birth if not with an experience unique experience of his paintings.

The visitors can download the application for free and step into the world of magic this artist has to offer, experiencing it in a whole new way.  In order to present this artwork in virtual form, few people that look like the characters have been chosen. Then, to make it as similar as it can be, they used make up and costumes that resemble the 17-th century. The process of creating include 3D scanning, combining scans with 3D modeling software and than using ARKit and ARCore in order to place the holograms into the virtual environment.

Thanks to this process, the visitors have the opportunity to move and interact with the 3D objects and also enjoy different animation effects.
