With “Déjà Vu Vibes — Wander. Roam. Replicate” in its Instagram biography, the monomaniac account “Insta Repeat” directly announces the aim of his project: through photo mosaics, it reveals visual similarities and successions of abundant “perfect” images that look similar, repeat same vantage points and turn the social network into a standardized matrix.
Although most of us are aware of the standardization on Instagram, these montages show the extent of all these photographic replicas. They testify to the lack of originality displayed by a large number of “travel” instagrams.
Behind the account is 27-year-old filmmaker living in Alaska, who became fed up with seeing these self-proclaimed “adventurers” and “explorers” flood the social network. Subjective views from an open tent showing an impressive landscape, portraits of backs on mountaintops, in canoes, on bridges that make you dizzy, in front of a turquoise lake and in front of waterfalls, blonde hair in the wind in front of a landscape impressive (again!), aurora borealis and small red cabins near to a lake… This account doesn’t seem to run out of material for samey photo mosaics.
