“Someone in Reddit has put women in art with Photoshop in a modern office and it’s just excellent,” says a tweet from June 21 with more than 48,000 retweets.
That someone has a name: Alla Mingaleva. She is a 31-year-old art director оf Ukrainian descent who lives in Armenia. “It’s crazy, but it’s a good madness,” says she about the attention that his work has awakened in the last hours. She uploaded the image to Instagram on June 15.
Mingaleva was born in a city on the Crimean peninsula when this territory was part of Ukraine. She has many other montages on her Instagram account, in which characters from classical fine art appear in current offices. In her collages that are masterfully made with Photoshop, she combines characters from different artists and styles, both Renaissance and Baroque, especially Botticelli, Vermeer, Titian, and Rubens. Oftentimes one painting integrates characters from different artists.
Mingaliova spends a lot of time in an office for her work, the main reason that inspired her to make this series of montages. These are other images between meeting rooms and printers.
Beyond this series, the artist also plays with the characters of the paintings in other situations. Sometimes they leave the office because they’re dying of boredom.
