Justyna Stasik’s Illustrations are Great Fun

“Popular with the seniors and babies alike,” reads Justyna Stasik’s humourous Instagram caption, and judging by her playful illustration style we can totally understand why. Based on minimal compositions and bold color choices, her creations might equally appeal to children and adults.

As it turns out, Stasik’s style also attracts commercial work, with selected clients including brands as big as Apple, Sony, The New York Times, and Wall Street Journal.

Born in Poland, and currently based in Montreal, Stasik remembers being an overly imaginative child, doodling about. Having discovered the Wacom tablet, she continued experimenting with illustration throughout university. But it was only when she landed an internship at a game tech startup that she really started to take her hobby seriously.

“I never went to art school and I’m 100% self-taught,” she further relayed in an interview with Sense of Creativity. “At some point I’ve landed an internship at a small Polish tech startup creating iOS games for kids. I was offered a full time position there and that’s how my career started.”

“I don’t think it’s about learning the creativity itself but more about figuring out how to access what’s already inside,” she went on to explain. “And that is definitely something you can learn later on in life.”
