Meet The Young Professional Who Quit Her Day Job To Become A Fashion Journalist

Most of us pick a career in a very sensible way – we look for something stable, a career ladder to climb, something that’ll pay the bills at the end of the month. But wouldn’t it be fun to swap the boring desk job for an exciting adventure? Michel Obi can attest to that – she ditched her day job to become a fashion writer.

Obi started out as a professional working in an accounting department in a big firm. She had a great sense of style, but didn’t know how or where to share her thoughts on fashion.

It was the early 2000’s, and internet culture was still young. Social media wasn’t really a thing yet, but blogs were growing in popularity. One day, a close friend of Michel introduced her to blogging, and Michel launched her own blog, My Fashion Life.

Soon she had a loyal following, of other like-minded people who loved to talk and read about the latest trends and big next thing. That’s when Michel decided to take a leap of faith, leave her company and turn her blog into a business.

Today, My Fashion Life is a successful e-magazine about fashion, travel and food. Michel works with the biggest brands out there, and helping her followers keep on top of the latest trends in the fast-paced fashion world. And it all started with nothing more than a blog!
