Meg Lionel Murphy Paints Strong Giantesses

Meg Lionel Murphy’s Instagram bio simply reads “I paint giantesses,” and that’s exactly what she does. Her paintings show women who’ve turned their pain into the strength that helps them survive. “Over the past few years, I’ve compulsively painted heartbroken womxn that magically grow larger, stronger, and scarier than the world around them. As the paintings grow in number, I grow just a little larger, stronger, and scarier too,” the artist writes on her website.

Murphy doesn’t reveal the details about each of her subject’s trauma, because she wants them to promise hope and healing to everyone who sees them. Her paintings are currently exhibited at CO exhibitions in Minneapolis where you can see them until February 28th. For now, check them out below.
