Paola Delfín is a Mexico-based artist who breathes life into old, boring walls with her remarkable grey murals. Although you can find her work in cities all around the world, she explains that the one she has painted in Cancun is her favorite. It depicts a couple staring forward as they cradle a small boat.
“My family, uncle, and aunt are part of (the) pioneers. They moved to this city almost 40 years ago and watched it grow. They started school. My uncle worked on a ship for many years. Now the younger generations are trying to bring more culture since this city transformed into a tourist paradise, and sometimes we forget this was the place where centuries ago the great Mayan culture (rose),” the artist told Colossal and added that before even starting a new project she learns as much as possible about the history and culture of the neighborhood she is working in.
She shares images of her creations on her Instagram account where she has attracted more than 37,500 thousand followers. Scroll down and see for yourself why people are so much into her work.
