Beautiful Watercolor Paintings Inspired By Fiction

Sseongryul is the pseudonym for a Korean artist interested in graphic novels and illustrations. Being inspired by fiction, the Seoul-based artist who chooses watercolor as her medium thinks that good writing has a lot of room for interpretation, and it’s rich in invisible images, which stimulate her imagination.

Browsing through her Instagram account, where sseongryul has attracted more than 36,000 followers, you can see paintings rich in color.

“I am interested in the colors of lights that change with time and season. Different seasons have different colors of the sky and trees. The colors of reflected shadows change too, over time. I enjoy capturing every changes and putting them on paper,” the artist shared in an interview for Ballpit and added that she keeps track of her daily thoughts.

“I will open my notepad first if I want to draw something. Once the ideas are finalized, I simply sketch out the composition and go for a walk outside to observe objects or landscapes that are close to my thoughts. And then I will mix the collected data into my work,” sseongryul revealed.
